This is the main division of the consolidated museum. It is centrally placed in the old dairy buildings in Haugesund.

The exhibitions cover important themes of the region’s history: town history, agriculture development, fisheries, homes and local environment. There is also a special room for short time exhibitions, a work  shop, store rooms and, of course, the Haugaland museum administration.

The museum offers guiding, lectures, films of cultural or historical interest, a small cafe and a small book shop.

Karmsund Folk Museum has several other local divisions open to the public. One such division is Dokken, situated at Hasseløy, a collection of old houses, many of them at their  original sites, a typical small farm at Ørpetveit and Mikal Klovning’s sea house at Utsira.
